Sibenik
Sibenik
Sibenik is perhaps slightly less well-known but certainly not less loved, Šibenik is a gem on the Adriatic Sea. This ancient city is the oldest city on the Adriatic coast in Croatia founded by the Croats themselves, and the city has a very special calling card: the beautiful St. Jakob Cathedral from the 15th century, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Šibenik is a great access point for the Krka National Park and the Kornati islands. Krka National Park has no fewer than seven beautiful waterfalls that are accessible when you head up the river.
You drop anchor and then sail with a local boat to the falls. Like almost everywhere in Croatia, the coast is dotted with forts and villages. A popular destination is the village of Primosten, known for its location on a peninsula and for its architecture and vineyards.
If you want to escape the crowds, sail towards the Kornati National Park with its 140 uninhabited islands. The park is a true nautical paradise and offers a multitude of reefs and coves to discover the calm waters.
